Technologist Certificate of Competency

The SCCT Technologist Certificate of Competency Program recognizes technologists who have in-depth understanding of the utility and diagnostic capability of cardiovascular computed tomography.

Earning the CSCCT will enhance your career and stature with patients and peers by recognizing your expertise and experience, as well your commitment to providing quality care.

Once certified, a technologist may use the designation CSCCT (Certified Technologist of SCCT). 

 

Application process   

To maintain your SCCT Technologist Certificate of Competency you must renew your certification every 3 years.

You will be asked to pay for certification with a credit card at the end of the application. If your employer or someone else is paying for the certification and you need an invoice, please email info@scct.org.

(SCCT full member fee = $50, community and non-member fee = $145)

 

Requirements

Applicants apply under one of two tracks — Clinical or Industry Specialist. 

 Clinical Specialist requirements:

  • ARRT certified in CT (international applicants should provide equivalent credentialing)
  • Compliant with ARRT bi-annual continuing educational requirements
  • Have 20 Cardiac CT based CE credits within the previous 3 years (provide a listing of credits)
  • Participated in and/or performed the following 150 cases within the last 3 years.
    • 50 Coronary CT cases (this cannot include Calcium Scoring)
    • 100 Cardiovascular cases (including TAVR, EP, peripheral, congenital) or ECG-gated CTA cases
  • An attending physician or medical doctor must sign the case log to verify its authenticity (see case log template). If they case log template is not used, a letter of attestation stating the cases listed are legitimate may be used.

Industry Specialist requirements:

Industry Specialists must choose a specialty pathway.

Application specialist pathway:

  • ARRT certified technologist registered in CT (please submit a copy of your ARRT card)
  • Compliant with ARRT bi-annual continuing educational requirements
  • Have 20 Cardiac CT based CE credits within the previous 3 years (provide a listing of credits)
  • Have performed 5 CTA trainings in the last calendar year
  • At least two times a year you train customers on CT scanners
  • You train on how to scan cardiac CT exams, and how to process the exam for radiologist/cardiologists

Product specialist pathway:

  • ARRT certified in CT (international applicants should provide equivalent credentialing)
  • Compliant with ARRT bi-annual continuing educational requirements
  • Have 20 Cardiac CT based CE credits within the previous 3 years (provide a listing of credits)
  • Have performed 5 CTA trainings in the last calendar year
  • Been at your current job for at least 1 year

Education specialist pathway: 

  • ARRT certified in CT (international applicants should provide equivalent credentialing)
  • Compliant with ARRT bi-annual continuing educational requirements
  • Have 20 Cardiac CT based CE credits within the previous 3 years (provide a listing of credits)
  • Have performed 5 CTA trainings in the last calendar year
